How to Recognize God’s Faithfulness Amid Disappointment

We do not like discussing disappointment, yet every person is disappointed at some point. Also, we may be left with our jaws agape by something that happened in life. We are overwhelmed when a dream collapses, a prayer we thought God answered collapses, or we start breaking down when a plan that we had planned to work is shattered.

There is one question that usually comes to mind at those times:

“Where is God in this?”

That is a real question. A question for people. When they believe, everyone faces this one at some point. The truth is that it’s not easy to see God’s devotion when things are bad. It is possible, though. It changes how you walk through every valley after that, once you learn to see. When we learn to recognize the hand of God, even in the most anguished phases, the way is now more apparent.

Start by Being Honest About Your Disappointment

A lot of people think that having faith means acting like everything is okay. Also, it’s not true.

God never told us to hide how sad we were. There are numerous individuals in the Bible who devoted their hearts to God.

  • “My tears have been my food day and night,” David said.
  • Job cried out in confusion.
  • Jeremiah asked God what his plans were.
  • He even cried Jesus.

It’s not weak to name your sadness; it makes you human. Being honest also makes it possible to heal. When you tell your truth to God, you see the way He works in a way that you may never have noticed.

Look Back at What God Has Already Done

When sadness makes it hard to see clearly, memory can help you the most. Remember times you were helpless, but God took you. So, he opened the doors. You were given invisible security and gained strength that was not yours.

  • Not being happy with God doesn’t erase your past with him.
  • The wonders He’s already done don’t stop because you’re in pain.
  • Your current trouble doesn’t erase His goodness from the past.

To see how faithful God is, you may need to tell yourself that He has never left you before and will not start now.

Understand That God’s “No” Is Sometimes His Kindness

It is difficult to accept, particularly in great sadness. But God sometimes says no, and it ends up being the protection we did not know we needed.

Take a moment when you desperately prayed to have something, only to realize that you are also thankful God did not give it.

  • You might have been tired from the job.
  • Some people say that the relationship would have hurt you.
  • It could have been a terrible time for you.

We neglect the danger of our desires. God, on the other hand, sees the whole thing, from start to finish. When a door is shut, God is not punishing you; he is leading you somewhere that would suit His plan and help you grow.

Disappointment often disguises God’s mercy.

Pay attention to the little ways God shows up when things are hard

People believe that God shows Himself through dramatic breakthroughs, apparent answers, and miracles that one cannot ignore.

But God speaks also through silent, faint communications:

  • A friend who calls on a timely basis.
  • A text that provides you with a new point of view that day.
  • Also, a moment of peace you can’t explain
  • Strength you didn’t know you had
  • A situation that should have gone badly but didn’t
  • Comfort that comes exactly when your heart breaks

Every day things that we miss often show how faithful God is. When you do take your time, you can see Him everywhere.

Remember That God Is Still Writing Your Story

Further, the disappointment is like the death of something essential. To God, what appears to be the end is usually a beginning.

  • Consider Joseph.
  • Consider Ruth.
  • Just think about Hannah.
  • Think about the disciples after Jesus died on the cross.

It seemed like there was no way out for all of them at some point in the story. God was still writing, though. What happened next was more beautiful, deeper, and better than what they thought they had lost.

Your story isn’t over yet. Not even close.

Remaining faithful is knowing He is still working even when the ending of the story is not yet obvious.

Hold On to the Truth That God Is Close to the Brokenhearted

The awareness of the closeness of God is something that can make you feel better when you are sad. He is not very far off, waiting till you get your head straight.

Also, the Bible says that He is close to those who are sad and will save them.

  • In other words, when your heart hurts, He gets closer.
  • He is your guide when you feel lost.
  • When bad things happen in life, He makes you feel better.

God has been faithful not just in what He gives but also in the way in which he sustains you in suffering. And just being there is enough to get you through even the worst times.

From Quick Thrills to Eternal Purpose

There is no need to fake disappointment. Rather, strive to find God caring, loving, and reaching out to you in ways that are not in your plan. It is not abandonment, just a change of direction, which makes you stronger or a more real reality than you dared to think. If this subject feels important to you, Solomon A. Okang‘s ‘The Journey of Life: Walking the Christian Path with a Biblical Compass’ will bring you even more comfort. The book takes you through the real, honest parts of life, like grief, joy, confusion, and hope. This reminds us that God is by your side in every turn and twist, and you will never be alone, not even during a hard time in life.
